Reading a River

I am interested in the relationship between the visual and the verbal and have been developing ideas on the semiology of landscape. To see how meanings can get into and out of landscape I have concentrated on an area I know closely, the Lune Valley in Cumbria and Lancashire. I have walked the length of the river, photographed, sketched and written about it and my current project finds ways in which its meanings can be unfolded, particularly in print-making and in text.
